Hays Youth Soccer Association’s Fusion Soccer Club provides a quality soccer program for girls and boys to grow physically and mentally in a safe environment. The cost of joining a Fusion Soccer Club team is a fraction of the fees charged by most other “select“ soccer clubs in central Texas. Yet, the Fusion Soccer Club offers similar benefits, such as:
Fusion teams have professional trainers/coaches who are nationally licensed with years of experience in coaching soccer. The professional trainers have been specifically trained to teach youngsters the game of soccer and ensure a high level of individual skills training, player and team development, and an understanding of game strategy. Each Fusion team is assigned a professional trainer/ coach who works with the team at two training sessions each week and coaches the team during most games.Fusion maintains substantially lower fees than other select clubs ($710-$850 vs. $1,600 - $2,500 per year) while providing professional coaching, quality training and lighted fields conveniently located in northern Hays County.
Fusion FAQ
Q: What is Fusion Select Soccer?A; The Fusion teams are the Hays Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) “select” soccer program. The select soccer programs begin with the U11 teams.
Q: Should my child try out?A: The term “select” can be somewhat misleading – it does NOT mean only the best soccer players in an area (they are not all little Freddy Adu’s!). It generally means that the players must try out and be selected to play on a team.
Q: Why play select rather than rec soccer?A: Select soccer provides an environment that helps soccer players fully develop their potential. It instills the skills and tactics of the game that will better prepare kids to play for their middle school, high school, and beyond. In fact, many school districts view the local select programs as the “training ground” for their soccer players. The Fusion select program, as an integral component of the local community, has been designed to help kids with these aspirations…as well as those who just wish to learn good soccer.
Q: How is this improved development accomplished?A: There are two components that help Fusion players develop their skills:
Q: If my child plays select soccer, will soccer dominate our lives?A: Players are asked to commit to a team for a year, that is, for both the fall and spring seasons. It is expected that once a player accepts a position on a Fusion team, he/she will commit to regularly attending practices twice a week and all games.
Q: Will we have to travel all over the state to play select soccer?A: No. New Fusion teams typically choose to start out playing in Division II where travel is essentially the same as for rec teams above the U10 age group.
Q: What does it cost?A: Our fees are the lowest in the area because we rely heavily on volunteer parents for many of our duties. The player fee is $710 - $850 (depending on the team's division) per player for the entire year. Discounts for financially needy players may be arranged through the team manager or coach). New players will also pay an additional $100 for uniforms.
Q: What do you get for the fee?A: All of the following is included:
Q: What if we can’t afford to pay the fee all at once?A: The fees are paid in monthly installments over the course of the fall and spring seasons (if you would like to establish a different installment plan, this should be discussed with the team manager).
Q: Are there any additional costs?A: Team monies for extras are handled within each team. Extra tournaments, extra training, bags, warm-ups may be budgeted by the team manager based on team dues expected.
Q: Are team sponsors available?A: Fundraisers and sponsorships could reduce the cost to players. HYSA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and, as such, is considered a charitable organization. Money donated to your team, above the amount required for your individual benefit, is tax deductible. If your small business or the company you work for makes contributions to charities, please ask if they would like to be a team sponsor.
Q: When do the seasons begin and end?A: Professional training starts in August (the specific date will depend on whether a team chooses to participate in a preseason tournament). League play starts the weekend after Labor Day and finishes before Thanksgiving (number of games depends on number of teams in league). Teams that advance to the playoffs will continue training and playing games as far as they advance (the state tournament is usually the 2nd weekend in December). Professional training resumes in February (team may decide to go to preseason tournaments in February). Spring season play generally starts the first weekend in March and the playoffs are in May.
Q: Whom should I contact for more information about Fusion?A: Contact any of the commissioners, coaches or managers listed on the Fusion Contacts Page by clicking here
